Our History
Regina Lyric Musical Theatre, originally incorporated as Regina Lyric Light Opera Society, was born at a meeting held November 6, 1977, attended by about 30 people. The late Patricia Knox was the prime organizer of that meeting and she was its first president, a leading lady in several productions, and always a strong supporter of Lyric's activities. In addition to Patricia, the first executive consisted of Christine Tiller, Greta Charelbois, Hal Tate, Jean Freeman, John Huston and Walter Kalyn. Other founding members included Reverend Bud Harper and Reverend Stanley Sinclair, both of whom performed in Lyric shows; Bud also served as president. Another founding member, Jim Young, went on to serve as president and treasurer, and also performed in many Lyric shows.
Regina Lyric Musical Theatre's roots extend back to the Regina Amateur Operatic Society. This photo was taken of the cast of The Quaker Girl at Darke Hall in 1941. The second image shows the signatures of the actors on the back of the photograph.
