Fall Theatre Workshops

Unlock the full potential of your voice in this immersive vocal workshop with theatre artist Joseph Shane McLellan. We'll start by warming up our bodies and vocal cords with dynamic physical and vocal exercises with a focus on deepening breath control. From there, we'll dive into vocal and performance techniques, using a Shakespearean sonnet of your choice as our focus. The workshop will culminate in an in-studio presentation, giving you the opportunity to share your progress with the class and leave with practical tools to enhance your vocal expression.

Unarmed stage combat is a vital skill for actors portraying non-martial arts trained characters. In this workshop, you'll learn a range of techniques for safely executing punches, slaps, kicks, throws, and falls on stage. We’ll work on ensuring that these techniques are both safe and repeatable for performances night after night. We'll also explore how to bring authenticity to fight scenes and discuss how to motivate the action and avoid common pitfalls when tensions rise. Although this workshop is designed for actors with little to no stage combat experience, it also offers valuable insights for those at any skill level. Stage managers and directors are encouraged to attend to gain a deeper understanding of what goes into choreographing effective fight scenes.
